🌿 The rewilding path can go in many directions, but perhaps one of the most fundamental is "finding the bars of the cage" of civilisation. Using this philosophy to understand where we have come from, what historic changes created the western "civilised" cultures of today, and how we can use this knowledge to move forward in a more balanced and nature-connected way.
🌿 At first, all you may see are a couple of hippywippy tree huggers captured in a moment of loveywovey sopeyness. You may snigger. Perhaps even judge little? Or maybe you relate. You've been here before. Laid your body against a beautiful big tree, and just breathed with it. Slowly in... deeply out... A sweet and simple moment of meditation. An opportunity to connect and set an intention. The intention to dedicate care and love to all beings of the natural world. To set oneself on the same plane and dissolve all hierarchical and cultural notions that as a human you are "superior", more powerful.
🌿 The will of the wild is inside each and every one of us. A deep knowing that may be hidden just out of sight and mind beneath the burdens of society and the cultures we find ourselves immersed in. For many of us, a big weight on our shoulders.
🌿 I've been hesitating about posting this picture for a while. "Will people I know be shocked if I share a "naked" pic of myself? What will they think? Will I be objectified or sexualised in any way? Why do I want to post this anyway? Is it that important? I mean it's just a freakin' Insta post after all....".
🌿 This is one of the principles at the heart of rewilding. And for many of us this won't be a simple task. Myself included, having travelled a lot and lived on different lands. But it is a goal of mine and a challenge I know I need to face if I want to be in tune with this aspect of rewilding. In fact, growing deep roots somewhere at the heart of nature (and community) is something I yearn for, and know I will find soon enough. And when it happens, all the tools and knowledge I am learning now on my own rewilding journey will be very empowering i am sure.
🌿 Go get your hands dirty!! Make direct contact with the land and your animal body. Feel the earth between your fingers and toes. Build a relationship with your natural surroundings. Observe it's cyclical ups and downs.
